When Kassandra and Dave started the wedding planning process it took them months to find the perfect location. When they finally came across The Hillard Mansion in Hillard, Florida they both knew they finally found the perfect place to have their dream wedding. They soon found out that their wedding date they originally had picked was booked. In fact, The Hillard Mansion had the remainder of that year fully booked with no more slots available for them to choose from. Kassandra and Dave made the decision to change their wedding date and wait an entire year so they can have their wedding at the location of their dreams.
A week or so before their wedding we all soon found out that there was a new storm forming in the tropics. Hurricane Matthew very soon became one of the most powerful hurricanes meteorologists have ever seen. At a category 5 Hurricane Matthew started to approach Haiti. By the time Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti the storm weakened to a category 4 and Florida was soon right in his path. Every day for a week straight we all watched Hurricane Matthew get closer and closer to Florida and staying strong at category 4 hurricane. This storm was headed straight for Florida and the reports stated it would hit the Jacksonville, FL area at a category 4 by Friday evening, just 24 hours until Kassandra and Dave were supposed to say their "I Do's".
Amazingly someone upstairs heard all of our prayers and Hurricane Matthew passed Jacksonville, FL at a category 3 just 50 to 60 miles off shore. Meteorologist stated if the storm was just 10 miles closer to the shore we would have seen one of the most devastating storm Florida has ever seen. However, a category 3 hurricane did just pass Florida less than 24 hours ago, was there still going to be a wedding? How much damage did we all have? Was the bridges even going to be opened for all of us to travel? Was there even going to be power because most of the east coast got hit? Well, Kassandra was not going to let Hurricane Matthew ruin her wedding day. She was determined to make this wedding happen no matter what. With no power at the venue the wedding party all came together as a team not only to make sure we had enough power for the lights and for DJ Hydro-Matic but they worked very hard hours before the ceremony to clean up all the debris. The wedding happened and it was the most beautiful day we have seen in over a week!
